Beatles Releasing Limited-Edition Single to Celebrate 50th Anniversary of "Love Me Do"
This Friday marks the 50th anniversary of the release of The Beatles' "Love Me Do" single, the band's first offering on the Parlophone label. To celebrate the milestone, a special limited-edition vinyl disc is being made available. The retro-looking 45 rpm single, which features "Love Me Do" on the A side and "Please Please Me" and the B side, can be pre-ordered now at The Beatles' official online store for $12.99.
The 7-inch disc, which will be released on Friday, comes packaged in a colorful sleeve and boasts a replica of the original Parlophone center label.
The Beatles recorded "Love Me Do" at London's Abbey Road Studios in September 1962 and after its release the following month, the tune reached #17 on the U.K. charts. An alternate version of the song topped the U.S. singles chart in 1964.
