Lindsey Buckingham "Looking Forward" to Fleetwood Mac's Planned 2013 Tour

Over the last few years, Lindsey Buckingham has been enjoying a particularly prolific period as a solo artist, but he says he's "looking forward to" hitting the road with Fleetwood Mac again in 2013.  The singer/guitarist tells Billboard that his old band will soon be announcing dates for a new tour, which he expects to get under way in early April.
Buckingham notes that having his solo career as a creative outlet allows him to enjoy playing in his famous band all the more.
He explains, "I get to go out there and try these other things on my own, and the more that defines me as an individual and the more it tends to differ from the Fleetwood Mac experience, then the more I'm able to just let the group thing go where it's gonna go."
Buckingham also reveals that some new music may be on the way from Fleetwood Mac.  He tells Billboard that he, drummer Mick Fleetwood and bassist John McVie "sat down and tracked some stuff" at his home studio earlier in 2012, adding that he recently ran the recordings by singer Stevie Nicks.
The veteran musician says he thinks the band may be able to prepare a few new songs for release prior to the start of the trek.  He adds that if the tracks don't come together by that time, though, then perhaps the group can do "something a little more extensive after the tour, depending on what everybody wants to do."
Buckingham says the quality of the material "is quite good," while noting that "we have to get everybody on the same page" before knowing what direction in which the project will go.
But there may be more to the story than Buckingham told Billboard regarding the status of the new material.  STV.tv recently reported that, during a red carpet event a few weeks ago, Nicks revealed that she'd actually recorded a couple of new tracks with Buckingham in early November.
