Elton John's New Album No Longer Called The Diving Board; May Release Planned

Since its existence was first announced, the name of Elton John's upcoming new album has always been The Diving Board.  But that's now changed, according to a posting on the official website of his songwriting partner, Bernie Taupin.
The note reveals that John and Taupin are going back into the studio at the end of January for an additional two weeks of writing and recording for the new project, which was originally supposed to have come out last year.  Taupin says that the "feel and structure" of the new sessions will be the same as the rest of the material that's been cut for the disc, and the same musicians will be used, but now, the album will be called Voyeur.
Why?  Because, the message explains, Bernie and Elton feel like they're taking a "fly on the wall approach to many of the songs," which are being recorded with only piano, bass and drums.  The website says that a "late May release" is planned for the disc.
"Seeing that we're in no rush to get this record out there, we just felt the bug to get back in and cut some more material," says Taupin.  "We're pretty happy with what we've already laid down but there's always room for improvement."
He adds, "If you've got some good songs up your sleeve that can spice up the mix and enhance what's already there, it would be a shame not to make use of the free time."
