Deep Purple Offers Taste of Upcoming Album in New Teaser Video

Deep Purple is set to release brand-new studio album on April 30, and while the influential hard rockers have yet to reveal what the collection will be called, they're giving fans a taste of what it will sound like.  A video clip featuring about a minute of instrumental music from the record has been posted on the official YouTube channel of the band's record label, earMusic.
The segment offers an atmospheric, dreamy-sounding keyboard solo, with psychedelic and Middle Eastern influences.  Visually, the teaser features the same image of a question mark that also appears on the group's new website, DeepPurple2013.com.
In a recent interview with 100% Rock Magazine, frontman Ian Gillan discussed the new project, which he says is "being mixed as we speak."
"It's a new tone, it's a new direction, it's fresh stuff," the singer explained about the record, which Deep Purple wrote and recorded in Nashville.  "The reason we went [to Nashville was] not to make a country record, but because Bob Ezrin, our producer, lives [there] and so it made a lot of sense because he had all the studio facilities and backup and everything else."
Gillan notes that "there's a bit of diversity" on the album, while maintaining that he finds the sound of the new material hard to describe.
