Producer Tony Visconti Reports that David Bowie Doesn't Plan to Perform Live Again

Now that David Bowie finally will be releasing a new studio album in the coming months, fans undoubtedly are hoping that the singer will mount a tour in support of it.  However, according to producer Tony Visconti, who worked with Bowie on the record, titled The Next Day, the enigmatic artist has no plans to hit the road.
In an interview that will appear in the next issue of U.K. magazine NME, Visconti explains that David is "fairly adamant he's never gonna perform live again."
He adds that, while working on the record, "One of the guys would say, 'Boy, how are we gonna do all this live?' and David said, 'We're not.'  He made a point of saying that all the time."
Bowie took just about everyone by surprise this past Tuesday when, in conjunction with his 66th birthday and the relaunch of his official website, he debuted a video for a brand-new single called "Where Are We Now?" and announced that a new album, The Next Day, will hit stores on March 12.
The rock legend hasn't released a new studio effort since 2003's A Reality, and he's made only rare public appearances since undergoing a heart operation in 2004.
