Bon Jovi Postpones CT Tour Opener Due to Snowstorm, But Plays Free Concert for Those Who Made It

Bon Jovi picked the wrong night to kick off their world tour in support of their upcoming album What About Now.

The first night of the tour was to have taken place at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut, on Saturday, but after a massive snowstorm hit the East Coast, the governor of Connecticut declared a state of emergency and issued a mandatory statewide travel ban.  As a result, the show was officially rescheduled for Friday, October 25.

However, the Saturday night concert did take place, albeit on a smaller scale.  The band actually decided to perform an impromptu free show for those fans who had already arrived at the venue, which is part of a hotel/casino complex.   Hotel and casino patrons and employees were also able to enjoy the show.

A Facebook note from the band stated, "We were concerned for those who were unable to travel to the show and for those who had already traveled a long way to uncasville, ct. postponing the show while still performing tonight for those already here was the best way to address the unavoidable blizzard."
