Brian Wilson Says Beach Boys Probably Won't Do More Reunion Shows, May Record Another Album

Beach Boys mastermind Brian Wilson took home a Grammy Award on Sunday in the Best Historical Album category for the 2011 box set The Smile Sessions, which featured recordings from the classic unfinished Smile project that his band began in 1966.  After accepting the honor during the pre-telecast ceremony, the influential songwriter was asked whether he thought The Beach Boys would be playing any more reunion concerts like the ones the surviving members did last year to mark the group's 50th anniversary.

"Probably not," Wilson responded.  However, Brian did share some potential good news at the backstage press conference.  He said that he and the other Beach Boys still are "going to try to get an album together."

If the record does come to fruition, it would be a follow-up to last year's critically acclaimed That's Why God Made the Radio, which was The Beach Boys' first album to feature Wilson's full participation in more than 20 years.

By the way, Wilson's victory on Sunday marked his second-ever Grammy win.  He also received Best Rock Instrumental Performance in 2004 for "Mrs. O'Leary's Cow" from hisSmile solo album.
