Eric Clapton Launches New US Tour Tonight



Eric Clapton just released his new studio album Old Sock on Tuesday, and now Slowhand is set to kick off a U.S. tour to promote the record.  The trek gets under way tonight in Phoenix, Arizona, and then will works its way east.  The tour will culminate with a new edition of Clapton's Crossroads Guitar Festival, which will be held over two nights at New York City's Madison Square Garden on April 12 and 13.

Clapton will be joined at the festival by 30 artists, including Jeff Beck, The Allman Brothers Band, Robbie Robertson, John Mayer, B.B. King, Buddy Guy, Taj Mahal,Booker T, Jimmie Vaughan, Robert Cray, Allan Holdsworth, Albert Lee and Los Lobos.  Profits from the shows will benefit The Crossroads Centre in Antigua, a drug and alcohol treatment and education facility founded by Clapton.  Serving as Clapton's opening act on his other U.S. dates will be The Wallflowers.
