Manhunt for a Predator in Nassau

By Donna Vaughan

Wantagh (LINews) – A search is under way for a possible predator who approached two 10-year-old girls this week.

Detectives say the 5th graders were walking on Briard Street in Wantagh, just north of Stratford Road, on Monday around 5:30 PM when a black four-door car with black rims and tinted windows pulled over. The man reportedly said to the pair, “Come one girls, follow me” before pulling away.

The incident didn’t end there. Investigators say the car did a U-turn at the intersection with Manchester Road and went back to the victims. The man then got out and asked the girls, “Why are you running from me? Come with me now” as the children ran off. They went to the home of one girl and told a parent, who called police.

The girls describe the man as being 5’8” in height, in his late twenties or early thirties, wearing a black tee shirt, blue jeans and sneakers.

If you think you know the suspect, anonymous tips can be phoned in to Nassau Crime Stoppers at (800) 244-TIPS.
