A new survey by the tech insurance company Asurion reveals that July 4th is the most dangerous day of the year for smartphones. They say smartphone damage increases by 37% on Independence Day. They say with the amount of alcohol that occurs on the 4th, that leads to carelessness when it comes to phones.
The U.S. Border Patrol has once again been seizing Mexican-made fireworks. They say the explosives are illegal in many states because they have substandard packaging and charges that detonate too quickly. In Tul te pec, Mexico, 6,000 residents work at a fireworks factory that makes its explosives by stuffing diesel fuel, powdered charcoal and rocket fuel into cartridges made out of old cornmeal and dog food sacks.
Aptos, California is holding the world’s shortest Fourth of July parade. The annual parade is just 6/10 of a mile long. The parade used to be longer, but was shortened. Classic cars, floats, bands, walkers, dancers and dogs are usually part of the parade. And all culminates with the lighting of the firecracker!
